The Senior Manager will be responsible for supporting Sales Executives in solution-based business development activities with selected clients in the Federal and State markets, and in growing the engagement delivery organization. In addition she/he will be a key member of our clients global tax network. The candidate must have strategic and management consulting experience (shaping and delivering client engagements), a thorough understanding of the work of the IRS (both its cores business operations and its supporting technology functions) , experience with business transformation, and a proven track record for business development. This person will be both a “thinker” and a “doer” and will have demonstrated a high degree of collaborative business practices in her/his previous executive roles. It is critical that this leader has significant prior success leading and driving strategic consulting engagements at the executive level and can cite specific examples of professional achievement in a consulting and business development leadership role.


Expectations include:

* Direct experience working with the IRS and, ideally, with State tax authorities as well.
* Exceptional executive presence, communications skills, and people-building skills with proven experience of working with and creating relationships across the client organization from the most senior executives down to the program, technical and contracts management elements of the organization and to be able to translate these relationships into solid business opportunities.
* Proven leadership experience, including business development, marketing, finance, recruiting and people leadership.
* Vendor / Partner relationship management experience a plus
* Proven ability to act as the Engagement Director at the Federal level and a willingness to support development of State-level tax business.
* Creativity and thought leadership such that the candidate will immediately act as a contributing member of the business unit.
* Ability to leverage personal relationships, and develop new relationships, to leverage our client’s global credentials and capabilities into new tax clients and/or further strengthen existing relationships.
* Ability and willingness to serve as a subject matter expert in his/her specialty areas internally, to the analyst community, and industry conferences. The successful candidate will be a part of our client’s Global Tax Network and we would expect the successful candidate to add value to that Network of peers as well as to be able to use that Network to build business in the USA.
* Proven ability to manage engagement economics for million-dollar+ client engagements
* Proven ability to assemble and deliver business solution with demonstrated business value
* Practice leadership (people, solutions, utilization, business development and sales) experience in consulting or service provider environment desired.
* Willingness and ability to travel beyond Washington, DC including occasional international trips.
* Ability to obtain US security clearance.
