National Interstate Insurance Company wants you to add your vision and drive to our team! We’re currently seeking an SEC Financial Reporting Manager in our Northeast OH Corporate Headquarters.

Summary
Overall responsibility for the preparation of internal and external consolidated financial statements for the Company. Assist with accounting research, analytical reviews of accounts and balances, and implementation of accounting pronouncements. Additional responsibilities include oversight of payroll and compensation accounting as well as premium tax filings.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Oversee the preparation and/or draft the quarterly and annual financial reports on Form 10-Q and Form 10-K and all periodic SEC filings such as Form 8-K’s and Form 4’s.
• Responsible for the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end internal financial statements for management.
o Assist in the development of the monthly financial report to CEO.
• Maintain current knowledge of pending authoritative regulatory and accounting pronouncements and take the lead in researching and documenting certain accounting positions.
• Participate in review of various business transactions and/or issues to ensure appropriate GAAP is applied.
• Participate in acquisition related due diligence.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the external auditors and GAIC/AFG accounting.
• Support investor relations on press releases and other matters relative to financial information.
• Oversight of certain functions such as premium taxes, payroll, 401K audit, as well as technical areas such as stock options and accounting and reporting for FAS123r, executive compensation and relocation, stock and debt compliance.
• Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
• Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Qualifications we’re looking for:
• BA/BS and highly preferred in Accounting.
o Advanced credentials such as a master’s degree in business administration or certified public accountant a plus.
• 6 years minimum Accounting experience, preferably with a prior focus in SEC related work.
o Candidates with public accounting experience for the Big Four are encouraged to submit their interest.
• In depth knowledge of SEC reporting requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley Act guidelines.
• Previous experience researching complex accounting issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with all levels both internally and externally.
• Prior supervisory experience.
• Must be able to work both independently and within a team environment.
