Accounting and Finance Manager

For one of our client an International School are we looking for an accounting and Finance Manager. This is a challenging contracting position starting in January 2018 until June 2018 with extension possibilities.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
In charge of the General Ledger and the integrity and accuracy of financial bookkeeping records in compliance with regulations;
Responsible for year-end closing, the preparation of Annual Financial Statements in line with Swiss law and the year-end statutory audit;
In charge of controlling processes by preparing regular internal reports to aid the decision-making of other school departments and the school management;
Supports the Director of Operations in the development and management of the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes;
Analysis of accounting records and timely elevation of issues when noted;
Manages the cash collection process and monitors cash flow via the periodical preparation of cash flow statements and budgets;
Internal Control System (ICS): develop, review and maintain accounting and reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements;
Prepares quarterly VAT returns;
Identifies and recommends methods to improve financial and operational procedures;
Trains, mentors and appraises members of the Finance Team (5 people of which 3 are in accounting and 2 are in purchasing);
Ensures effective team work and communication between members of the Finance Team and the other departments of the school;
Liaises with school staff (teachers, management, other departments) and external agencies as and where required;
Participates in training, other learning activities and performance development as required;
Carries out additional activities, as requested, in line with the general expectations of this job description.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related subject area;
Professional certification in Accounting (such as Swiss Experte in Rechnungslegung und Controlling, Diplomierter Wirtschaftsprüfer, ACCA, CPA etc.) strongly desired;
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role, in charge of financial accounting while managing a small team;
Proven success in providing effective leadership and staff development;
Knowledge and experience with Swiss law and financial regulations including Internal Control Systems;
Experience with financial accounting software is required (previous experience with SAGE 200 is advantageous);
Demonstrated skills and previous experience in financial planning, process management, budget management and effective deployment of resources;
Native/fluent tongue level German with business level English, both verbal and written;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to motivate, negotiate, influence and network;
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills;
Excellent ICT skills and a knowledge of their effective use to support business functions;
Ability to understand, adapt and empathise with social and cultural diversity;
Ability to maintain confidentiality, to exercise sound judgment and to work with tact and discretion;
Demonstrated reliability in current position including an excellent attendance record;
Must be free of physical limitations that would exclude performance of any of the above tasks;
